RCOE | Indicators of Student Success

An important element of our mission at the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) involves putting the term “student success” in a context that is realistic and meaningful. We would suggest that the primary indicators of student success could be described in this way:
“Successful students will strive to develop their full potential and enjoy a positive self-concept, including the ability to build positive relationships and work effectively with others. They will be responsible citizens and demonstrate ethical behavior. Successful students will respect diversity and exhibit sound decision-making skills. They will attain basic educational goals, including completing high school with a certificate or diploma, be prepared to pursue a variety of post secondary opportunities, including higher education and/or technical training, they will be productive in the workforce, and they will be lifelong learners.”
RCOE provides direct services to thousands of children that have a wide-range of disabilities. These indicators cover a broad, holistic realm, and in many cases students will only achieve some of them. But one aim that every student can strive for is to develop his or her full potential, whatever that full potential may be.
