Educational Services | Regional School Improvement Unit (RSIU)
The Regional School Improvement Unit (RSIU) provides services to improve student achievement particularly for English learners, students who are socioeconomically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, and students from historically underperforming ethnic subgroups. The unit’s goal is to close the achievement gap between these groups of students and more advantaged peers. Its services are detailed in the Support Services Guide for Districts and School Program Improvement.
The unit consists of The Regional System of District and School Support (RSDSS) for Region 10 (Riverside, Inyo, Mono and San Bernardino Counties), the Bilingual Teacher Training Program (BTTP), and the AB 2913 English Language Development/Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (ELD/SDAIE) program. The unit offers other services for English learners.
