California Standards

The California State Board of Education adopted new standards in 2010, following rigorous review and augmentation by the California Academic Content Standards Commission. These new standards encompass the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) being implemented across the nation; helping all students get a good education, even if they change schools or move to a different state.

The goal of the new California Standards is to better prepare students with the skills necessary for success in college and careers. The standards provide a clear and consistent definition of what students are expected to learn in each grade level and define the knowledge and skills that high school graduates need to master. The standards focus on rigorous content and application of knowledge through higher order thinking skills and real life application.

Riverside County Office of Education offers a variety of trainings and resources to assist local districts with implementation of the new California Standards.
