"Fiesta Educativa" conference attended by 200
"Fiesta Educativa," a conference at the Riverside County Office of Education for Latino parents who have children with special needs, was attended by 200 participants on Saturday, February 20, 2010.
The conference was hosted by RCOE’s Division of Student Programs and Services as well as the Division of Children and Family Services. This is the third Fiesta Educativa conference. It was held at the RCOE Conference Center.
Mike Sepulveda, Assistant Superintendent, Division of Student Programs and Services, welcomed participants, including 140 parents of children with special needs, parent volunteers, agency representatives, vendors, and workshop speakers.
Workshop presenters addressed a range of topics, including: "Autism," "Nutrition," "Creating a Notebook for Your Child," as well as "Positively Resolving Issues regarding Your Child's Special Education Services."
Nearly all workshop sessions were presented in Spanish. "Fiesta Educativa" is facilitated by parent leaders Alma Rodrigues and Sal Mendez in Riverside County.
