Inland Empire Reading Council honors Kenneth M. Young, Riverside County Superintendent of Schools
The Inland Empire Reading Council (IERC) honored Kenneth M. Young, Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, on Thursday, March 25, 2010, as an Exemplary Administrator for his support of literacy.
The IERC award noted that Young’s “development and support of quality instructional programs, which have increased literacy for the Riverside County students, has been exemplary.”
Young attended the 2010 Celebrate Literacy Awards in Riverside attended by more than 100 Riverside County teachers, principals, superintendents and IERC members.
Young was appointed to the position of Riverside County Superintendent of Schools effective July 1, 2007. He has served in public education since 1995, including as the Director of Facilities, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, and Deputy Superintendent for the Lake Elsinore Unified School District. He became the Deputy Superintendent for the Riverside County Office of Education in 2004.
Young spent 19 years in the field work of civil engineering, 14 of which he was president of a southern California based engineering construction firm.
Young holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, a Master’s degree in Education, two California teaching credentials and a certificate in School Business Administration. He has lived in Riverside County for 27 years.
