Riverside Student Winners at California History Day 2006
Throughout the current school year, more than 3,000 Riverside students researched and prepared entries for a series of History Day competitions. Going to Sacramento for the California State History Day competition May 11 - 14, 2006, were more than a thousand high-achieving young people from 33 counties. They made history come alive as they researched, analyzed, and used critical thinking to present their topics based on the theme, “Taking a Stand in History.”
Unique to the rigorous competition is the presentation of the student’s research findings. Student’s may present their findings through documentaries, exhibits, papers, performances and websites.
Once again our Riverside County students brought home awards from the California History Day competition . These students will now move on this coming June to the National History Day level of competition at the University of Maryland. Out of thousands of students in California who had competed through the ranks at the school district, county and state levels, the following Riverside County students placed at the state level and will now move on to the National level:
