Riverside County students continue to improve on STAR
Riverside County students continue to improve their performance in both English and math portions of the state’s Standardized Testing and Reporting program (STAR) released today (August 15) by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell.
Thirty eight percent of students scored at or above proficient on the English portion of the exam, up two points from 2005. Forty seven percent of students scored at or above proficient on the math portion of the exam, up three points over last year.
Students improved not only in English and math, but science, and history-social science as well compared to 2005.
Riverside County has more than 400,000 students in grades kindergarten through twelve in 23 local school districts.
