Riverside County Office of Education hires Sandy Silberstein to lead advocacy group
Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Kenneth M. Young announced today (May 13, 2008) that the Riverside County Office of Education has hired Sandy Silberstein to lead the Riverside County Schools Advocacy Association (RCSAA) effective July 1, 2008. The RCSAA membership is comprised of the Riverside County Office of Education and Riverside County school districts.
Silberstein will serve as the Executive Director of RCSAA and will help to advocate on local educational issues in both Sacramento and Washington, D.C. Superintendent Young described Silberstein as one of the most respected and well-known legislative advocates in Sacramento. She worked for a number of years on the staff of former State Senator Robert Presley and as a lobbyist for Murdoch, Walrath and Holmes before coming to RCOE in 1999. Silberstein left in 2005 to become the Assistant Executive Director of Advocacy & Policy for the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO).
A credentialed teacher, Silberstein spent 13 years teaching in the public schools, primarily as a high school teacher, and was honored on numerous occasions as an exemplary teacher of high school government and economics. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from California State University, Sacramento.
