Children's Services Unit holds Early Childhood Learning Institute
The Riverside County Office of Education, through its Division of Children and Family Services, Children Services Unit, recently held a series of successful seven full-day Early Childhood Learning Institutes with funding provided by First 5 Riverside.
The institutes were part of a concerted effort to enhance the quality and quantity of child care and education and related services throughout Riverside County. They focused on various topics from how to open a child care business to utilizing the outdoor environment to promote learning.
Nearly 400 current child development providers and others interested in becoming providers attended the institutes. At each institute participants received extensive support materials to facilitate implementation of strategies and concepts learned.
RCOE is proud to have had the opportunity to provide these institutes to the child care and development community and continues in its commitment to provide quality care and services to children and families. The final institute focused on Creating Healthy Outdoor Learning Environments for 21st Century Children.
One childcare provider who attended "Promoting Positive and Managing Challenging Behaviors in Children ages 3-5" said she experiencing difficulty dealing with difficult children: “I just don’t know what to do; I am out of ideas, maybe its time for me to work in another job.” By the end of the institute she said: “I now feel inspired and ready to go back with a new plan and ideas, I am excited, and I have new tools!”
