2010 Riverside County History Day winners announced
Winners were named Saturday (March 20, 2010) in the 27th Annual Riverside County History Day Competition. The awards ceremony was held at Poly High School in Riverside (photos from ceremony).
The theme this year was “Innovation in History: Impact and Change.” The entries are judged with three criteria: historical quality, quality of presentation, and adherence to the theme. The work must be completely done by students.
History Day competitions started in September at the school district level. This year, 210 students competed at the county level from 11 school districts, one private school, and one charter school.
There were 117 entries in the various categories. The winning teams will advance to the History Day in California-State Finals May 7-9, 2010, in Pasadena. The national competition is scheduled for June 13-17, 2010.
