Mock Trial final four set
The final four teams have been selected for this weekend's finish of the 28th Annual Mock Trial competition. After the Elite 8 Round held today (Wednesday, March 3, 2010). Marywood Palm Valley High School will face Woodcrest Christian High School, and Temecula Valley High School will square off against returning champion Riverside Poly High School in the semi-finals beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
The Championship Round begins Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by the Final Awards Ceremony at 3 p.m. at the Riverside Historic Courthouse. The winning team will compete March 19-21 at the California State Mock Trial Competition to be held in San Jose.
Mock Trial, which began February 10, involves students arguing cases in front of real judges and scored by real attorneys. The case this year is People v. Bratton, a murder case. The event is sponsored by the Riverside County Office of Education, Riverside County Bar Association, and Riverside Superior Court.
Marywood faced Hemet High School in the Elite 8, Temecula was paired with Great Oak High School, Woodcrest Christian was up against Centennial High School, and Poly faced Murrieta Valley High School.
