Teacher Credentialing

photo of teacherAll teachers in Riverside County must register their teaching credentials and renew them when necessary through RCOE. Currently, there are 81,371 credentials on file with RCOE, which processed 10,000 applications during 2002-2003 and issued 7,100 Temporary County Certificates. RCOE staff provide guidance to prospective teachers on credential requirements and also issue emergency credentials when appropriate. All prospective school employees must be fingerprinted. RCOE fingerprints about 10,000 people annually, including RCOE employees, employees in school districts, and outside agencies.
