Hemet High Wins Seventh Academic Decathlon

Hemet High School won its seventh first-place trophy in a row Wednesday (February 9) in the Riverside County Academic Decathlon awards ceremony at Arlington High School in Riverside.

The Academic Decathlon is sponsored by the Riverside County Office of Education.

Second-place honors went to Hemet West Valley High School. Corona High School's Gold team captured third place. Hemet High will take its team to Los Angeles in March for the State Academic Decathlon. The national competition is in April.

This year's theme is "Exploring the Ancient World." Students from grades nine through 12 competed as individuals and as team members in a series of ten academic tests and demonstrations. Twenty-one teams took part in the Riverside County competition this year.

Hemet High won the Super Quiz, La Sierra’s Blue team finished second and Corona’s Gold team placed third.
