Bridges Project
RCOE’s Special Education Bridges Project was among several district programs in the state to win the first Grazer Outstanding Achievement in Learning Award (GOAL). In Sacramento on November 17, Sandra Schnack, Assistant Superintendent, Division of Student Programs and Services, and Lynn Smith, Project Coordinator, were presented the GOAL award by Jack O’Connell, State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
The GOAL Award was established by Brian Grazer, a movie producer and father of a son with Aspergers, "to recognize effective programs and practices in the field of special
education." RCOE is one of the five sites in the California’s Bridges Project, which works with young people who have disabilities, teaching them to coordinate their social security benefits and to link with agencies that can help them work and live more independently.
