2006 Riverside County History Day
Students from Riverside County competed last March in the Riverside
County History Day competition.
Riverside County History Day is the county level competition as part of the larger National History Day program and competition. History Day is one of the rare programs that helps students refine critical thinking and research skills used in all subject areas. The National History Day competition is the nation’s oldest and most highly regarded humanities contest for students in grades 6-12. www.nationalhistoryday.org
Riverside County History Day provides teachers with training and materials to help educators meet and exceed the California State education standards in language arts and history/social sciences.
Almost 300 students in grades 6-12 entered the county contest in one of two divisions: Junior (grades 6-8) or Senior (grades 9-12.)
Students participating in the contest chose their own topics of study related to this year’s annual theme of: Taking A Stand in History and conducted extensive research. The students produced documentaries, exhibits, historical papers, original performances and websites.
