Teacher Credentialing

photo of RCOE teacher with studentAll teachers in Riverside County must register their teaching credentials and renew them when necessary through RCOE. Currently, there are 103,307 credentials on file with RCOE, which processed 5,937 applications during 2006-2007 and issued 5,171 Temporary County Certificates.

RCOE staff provides guidance to prospective teachers on credential requirements and also issues emergency credentials when appropriate. All prospective school employees must be fingerprinted.

RCOE fingerprints about 7,000 people annually, including RCOE employees, employees in school districts, and outside agencies.
