About RCOE

Welcome to the Riverside County Office of Education, where nearly 1,900 dedicated employees strive to provide extraordinary service in support of 23 local school districts and our own RCOE operated student programs so that teachers and administrators can help each student succeed.

Established with the creation of Riverside County in 1893 when there were 1,400 students attending classes in 70 mostly one-room school houses, RCOE now serves more than 425,000 students who attend 464 schools. Riverside County is the fourth largest county in the state with a population of over 2 million.

The Riverside County Superintendent of Schools is responsible to approve local district budgets, provide administrative and fiscal support including payroll and purchasing systems, oversee teacher credentialing, and provide hundreds of administrator and teacher trainings each year. RCOE also operates its own programs for alternative education, Special Education, and vocational/career technical education.
