With a student and staff population totaling 4,000, Marc Horton is as much the principal as he is the mayor of Great Oak High School. Marc’s 19-year educational career began in 1997 as a third-grade teacher in Costa Rica, led to grade-level leadership roles, a stint as an assistant principal, and then his first principal position in 2004. He has served as principal of Great Oak High School since 2013 and is known around campus as a leader who strives to combine successful business innovations with systemic practices that can flourish within the educational model. Marc’s educational path of study that included pre-med and psychology has led to a caring approach that is compassionate, calm, and reassuring to students and community members alike. Colleagues describe him as “a leader of leaders” and “a master at both the precision skills and people skills needed by a strong leader.”
