Director of Learning Support Services
Perris Union High SD

MESSAGE

“There are so many people to thank along the way that by mentioning them, I’m sure I will fail to include someone important to me in my life. Every person I’ve met, worked with, shed a tear with, and who shares my passion for our students, is important to me in my own personal growth. For those of you who know me, I do not accept accolades and praise easily. I prefer being the behind-the-scenes mover and shaker. Since being put into the spotlight, I have to say, I now have completed an item not even on my bucket list. It is a great honor and privilege to have been named Riverside County Certificated Administrator of the Year. I humbly take my seat among many great leaders who have come before me receiving this distinction and will offer my guidance and mentoring to those future recipients. Thank you.”

Biography

Dian Martin describes her career in education as “26 fantastic years” and credits her strong work ethic and moral compass to her father, an Air Force Chief Master Sergeant. As the coordinator for the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan, Ms. Martin’s role includes communicating with a wide variety of parents and community stakeholders. Her guiding principle is her belief that “building a strong, empowered community is at the heart of any successful education institution and can be transformative in the lives of students, educators and parents.” Beyond her role as an administrator, she has earned the nickname of “Robo Mom” for her tireless efforts in support of students in robotics competitions. From hauling ice chests and folding tables, to cheering for one of the 14 different district teams, she treasures the experience to see students embrace STEM principles in fresh and exciting ways. Each year, Ms. Martin helps organize donations from local businesses to bring cheer to 35+ families during the holiday season.
