Lindsay Brancato

Attendance Technician
Val Verde USD

“To receive this recognition is a great blessing and honor. I am truly humbled. Full credit goes to the Almighty Father. He is number one. I would not be where I am today without His strength and affirmations. I want to thank my husband, Terry, as he has shown me lots of encouragement when I felt defeat. My sons, Sean and Caiden, are the apples of my eyes, and I cannot thank them enough for “sharing me” the last 2 years. Esperanza Arce, my mentor: I thank her for her time and patience, but most of all, her belief in me, every step of the way. She showed me what I am truly capable of. I had no idea. Thank you, to my rare and loyal friends: Melissa Sotelo and Melissa Lopez. The support they have shown is unmeasurable! Thank you to ALL who have supported me. I am blessed beyond compare.”

Ms. Brancato’s efforts to launch a STEAM-focused attendance recovery program on Saturdays has garnered countywide attention and helped recover more than $5 million dollars in attendance funds in 2016-2017. As a result, Val Verde USD posted one of the highest attendance rates among all school districts in Riverside County. She has helped start, support, and present to other educators about innovative programs that engage students and families at Vista Verde Middle School. In her application, Ms. Brancato states how she “believes in people and with the difference we can make in one another” and that “the youth of this era need to see this demonstrated among us as adults.” In her two decades in education, she continues to be a force for positive change while her caring approach for all students has led her and her husband to become foster parents themselves.
