Migrant Education, Region VII Programs and Services
Instructional Support Programs
After-School Tutorial Program
The Migrant After-School Tutorial Program provides personalized, one-on-one academic support to migrant students in grades K-12 through a virtual learning model. Teachers work closely with their students and their families to meet individual academic needs, reinforce classroom learning, and help students stay on track for success.
Students receive targeted instruction in:
- English Language Arts (ELA)
- Mathematics
- English Language Development (ELD)
In addition to academic support, high school students receive case management services to help ensure they stay on track for graduation. Teachers work closely with students and families to monitor progress, provide guidance, and connect them with resources that support their educational goals.
The Migrant Education Instructional Support Programs are designed to meet each student's unique needs while promoting academic success from home.
Summer Academic Programs
Site-Based and Home-Based Programs
In partnership with local school districts, the Migrant Education Program offers academic support designed to help students strengthen their skills and achieve academic success in school.
Services are available for eligible migrant students from preschool through 12th grade and are tailored to meet their unique educational needs. These supports help students stay on track, build confidence, and reach their full academic potential.
Out of School Youth (OSY) Program
Who Is an Out-of-School Youth (OSY)?
An Out-of-School Youth (OSY) is a young person who qualifies for the Migrant Education Program but is not currently enrolled in school and has not earned a high school diploma. To qualify, the individual must be a migratory worker or the child of a migratory worker and have moved for temporary or seasonal work in agriculture, dairy, lumber, or fishing.

College and Career Readiness
College Campus Visits for High School Students
Region VII's Migrant Education Program proudly offers university visits for high school students to inspire and prepare them for higher education.
These visits give students the chance to:
- Explore college campuses and experience college life firsthand
- Learn about academic programs, majors, and career pathways
- Understand college admissions requirements, including GPA, testing, and financial aid
- Connect with college staff and student ambassadors
- Build motivation and confidence to pursue postsecondary education
- Interact with other migrant students from different regions
Our goal is to help migrant students view college as an achievable goal and provide them with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve it.
Summer Internships
Migrant Education Career Academy Partnership Program (MCAP)
Students may apply for a seven-week summer internship program that places them in professional settings aligned with their interests and career goals. This experience helps students build essential workplace skills, explore career pathways, and gain insight into college and career readiness. Interns will receive mentorship and support as they navigate real-world environments and reflect on their future goals.
Migrant Education School Readiness Program (MESRP)
We believe that parents are their children’s first and most important teachers, and we are here to support them in this role!
The Migrant Education School Readiness Program (MESRP) is a home-based kindergarten readiness program designed to help preschool-aged children (ages 3-5) prepare for kindergarten and future academic success.
Through MESRP:
- Children receive a developmentally appropriate curriculum focused on building early learning skills
- Parents are partnered with a teacher who models fun, engaging activities and positive adult-child interactions
- Families learn how to support learning at home and build routines that promote school readiness
- Teachers work closely with parents, encouraging active involvement in their child's education every step of the way
Together, we help lay a strong foundation of lifelong learning.
