Virtual Applied Learning System (VALS)
The Riverside County Office of Education is proud to partner with Instructure and the Canvas Learner Management System to provide a viable virtual learning experience for our internal schools and external district partners throughout Riverside County.
Moving Forward Together: A Planning Guidebook for the Safe Reopening of Schools
The Riverside County Office of Education convened a task force of school superintendents, association leaders, educators, parents, and other stakeholders to develop a framework of recommendations to open schools. This guidebook for reopening schools reflects that framework and continues to provide valuable information as districts continue to plan for the next phases of returning students to the classroom.
- Educational Resources for Remote Learning
Originally created to support remote learning when schools closed, these resources have been updated to focus on support for reopening schools with distance learning. Topics covered include cultural responsiveness, social emotional learning, curriculum support for all content areas, assessment and college and career readiness.

Written to share remote learning strategies during the initial school closures, the content of this guide written by a team of educators lead by RCOE’s Educational Technology team still provides valuable information on pedagogy and practices, accessibility, content, tools and resources, and infrastructure and devices for educators continuing with distance learning.
