Riverside County Seal of Multiliteracy

The Seal of Multiliteracy is an award given by the Riverside County Office of Education in partnership with districts in recognition of high levels of attained proficiency in English and at least one other world language by high school graduation.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, modifications to the Riverside County Seal of Multiliteracy are in place for the 2020-2021 school year.

Eligibility Criteria for 2020-2021

  • Eligible students should be seniors during the 2020 – 2021 school year.

Demonstrating Proficiency in English

  • Students are on track to completing all English Language Arts (ELA) requirements for graduation with an overall unweighted GPA of 2.0 or above in those classes.

Demonstrating Proficiency in a language other than English (Target Language)
All students must demonstrate proficiency in one or more languages other than English through one of the following methods:

  • Pass a foreign language Advanced Placement (AP) exam with a score of three or higher, or
  • Pass an International Baccalaureate (IB) exam with a score of four or higher, or<
  • Pass the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) II foreign language exam with a score of 600 or higher.

On-Demand Assessment
The On-Demand Assessment will NOT be offered for the 2020-2021 school year.

Verification of Eligibility

The school is required to verify that every student that applies is eligible.

Student Verification list submit by Friday, October 2, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. 

The school site representative must submit one Student Verification list.  Information regarding how to submit the Student Verification list will be e-mailed to all school site representatives.  If you have questions email RCOESeal@rcoe.us

**Note: Student Transcripts are no longer required.

**STUDENTS:  You must make sure that your school site representative verifies that you meet the eligibility criteria and that your name is included on the Student Verification list.

Application

The NEW Application combines the Intent to Apply and School Verification form.  The Parent Authorization is uploaded within the Application.  The Application can be completed by the student.

Parent Authorization upload with Application by Friday, October 2, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. 

Students will need to download the Parent Authorization form and get it signed by their parent or legal guardian.  A PDF version of the signed Parent Authorization form needs to be uploaded with the application.  Ask your site representative for help, if needed.

Application submit by Friday, October 2, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.

Please know that students need to have a Google account to access and complete the Application.

Students may want to use the Application worksheet to help them gather all the information needed to complete the Application.  Make sure that all your information is correct.  Ask your school site representative to help you collect all the information you need.  Make sure you have everything you need before you get started on the Application, including a signed PDF copy of the Parent Authorization. The information you provide will be used to determine if you are eligible.   Applications will only be saved when the form is submitted.  Once the form is submitted, changes cannot be made. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
