Parent Engagement Leadership Initiative for Districts and Schools
Riverside County Office of Education is collaborating to increase parent and family engagement across Riverside County in order to raise student achievement and enable our students to be college and career ready.
The Parent Engagement Leadership Initiative (PELI) offers a research based nine module Training Series that covers all areas of parent and family engagement. Training materials are based on Dr. Joyce Epstein’s Six Types of Parent Involvement and use resources from the California State PTA. Topics include parent engagement, positive parenting in public education, communicating, volunteering, learning at home, advocacy, collaborating with the community, and the use of Action Teams and Action Plans to create and sustain parent and family engagement activities that support school goals and student achievement. Trainings are presented in a Trainer of Trainers format to provide instruction and information for parents, educators, and community members to lead presentations at their own sites.
Additional PELI Trainings include presentations on Parent’s Role in This Digital World, Family Friendly Schools, and Improving Parent Engagement in Schools Through Extraordinary Customer Service.
