Students complete five daily tasks to earn Campus Kindness Ambassador Certificate.
During America’s Safe Schools Week, October 21-27, 2019, Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Judy D. White is encouraging students to become Campus Kindness Ambassadors.
Significant progress has been made to ensure county schools are safe, secure, and productive. At the forefront of this movement are hundreds of exemplary school, district, state, and national programs. To recognize these successes and encourage others, October 21-27, 2019, has been proclaimed America’s Safe Schools Week.
“Creating a safe campus starts with students, staff, and the school community building relationships…getting to know one another and care about each other,” commented Dr. White. “As part of our One Million Deliberate Acts of Kindness campaign, we are asking students to do one kind act a day during Safe Schools Week to earn a Campus Kindness Ambassador Certificate.”
The goal of the campaign is to motivate students, staff, parents and community residents, to build relationships at school. When people know one another and care about their school, campus safety, discipline, and student attendance improve. Schools that are safe and free of violence, weapons, and drugs are necessary to ensure the well-being of all children and the quality of their education.
The activities for the week include:
- Monday, October 21: Reach out to a classmate and make a new friend.
- Tuesday, October 22: Assist a teacher with a classroom project.
- Wednesday, October 23: Complete a campus beautification task.
- Thursday, October 24: Support a campus club or athletic team.
- Friday, October 25: Log your acts of kindness and print your certificate.
Students who complete all five tasks and log them into the Riverside County Office of Education’s Kindness Counter will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Visa gift card. Five $50 cards will be given away to lucky winners. Students must submit their kindness acts by Friday, October 25 at 9 pm to be eligible for the drawing. Winners will be announced the week of October 28.
