About the Alternative Education & Come Back Kids (CBK) Program

The Riverside County Office of Education Alternative Education program includes Community School, Court School and Come Back Kids Charter School.

  • The Alternative Education Community School provides a comprehensive instructional program for district referred students and Probation referred students (14 sites).
  • The Alternative Education Court School provides a comprehensive instructional program for students in juvenile hall (4 sites).
  • Come Back Kids Charter School offers prevention/intervention services to students age 16 to 24 who wish to re-enroll in an educational program.

The Community School and Court School are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and provide students with curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure that students graduate from high school well prepared for college and careers.

Teachers in these settings are known as Specialized Academic Instruction Teachers. Requirements for these positions are a Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credential with an English Learner Authorization and an Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate) Credential.

If you possess a Multiple or Single Subject Credential, RCOE will consider intern eligible candidates for the Education Specialist. Applicants willing to enter an Education Specialist program may be considered for a short term staff permit. This is one year option to become intern eligible.
