Barbara Hale began her career in Early Childhood Education in 1994, first as a preschool teacher and two years later as the owner and operator of a child development center. She entered the public education system in 2003 and concurrently maintained her business until 2009.
Ms. Hale served as public school teacher in Lake Elsinore Unified school district. During her tenure with the District, Ms. Hale was the Student Study Team Facilitator, a team leader, and the Lake Elsinore Teacher Association site representative. She received the W.H.O. award, We Honor Ours, for her support and contributions to the teachers in the District.
In 2009, Ms. Hale co-founded the Sycamore Academy of Science and Cultural Arts, a direct-funded public charter school. She served as a teacher and the Administrative Designee at the school for the first two years, designing the support services system for at risk students and leading the WASC committee earning accreditation. Ms. Hale was elevated to Executive Director in 2012 where she continues to serve. She has led her team through a successful charter renewal, continual student growth, establishment as the Local Education Agency for Special Education, approval of $9.4 million in bonds, the acquisition of land and the ground up construction of the school’s new site.
Ms. Hale earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Growth and Development and a Master in Arts Degree in Education from Azusa Pacific University. She is currently working on obtaining her Doctorate of Education with a concentration in Charter School Administration from Taft University.
Barbara is married to Tom and they live in Winchester. Her son, Vince, is an entrepreneur and father to her bright, talented and adorable grandchild, Bentley. She also has a step-daughter, Gabrielle, a student at Arizona State University and step-son Thomas, a freshman at Chaparral High School.
