Dr. Wendel Tucker has been involved with educational institutions both public and private for 45 years. His career includes teaching high school physical education and history, principal of private and public schools – including 12 years as a middle school principal. He has been the Vice President for Advancement and University Relations at La Sierra University. During his tenure in the Alvord Unified School District, he served as Assistant Superintendent for Operational Services and retired as the Superintendent in 2011.
Dr. Tucker earned his B.A. and M.A. in history from Pacific Union College located in the Napa Valley. His Ph.D. in Educational Leadership is from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Dr. Tucker is an adjunct professor at California State University, San Bernardino and La Sierra University. He has participated in the formation of the doctoral program at CSUSB and taught Ethical Leadership to the doctoral students. At La Sierra University, Dr. Tucker is active with the School of Business teaching organizational behavior.
Dr. Tucker has been an active participant in the civic and business community since 1984. He has served as the Chairman of the Board for the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce. Among the other civic responsibilities are: trustee for the Riverside Public Library (8 years), member of the Raincross Group and several city task forces focusing on the city charter and college/university relations with the business community. He has been a member of the Parkview Hospital Board since 2001 and has served a term as its president.
Wendel is married to Janis, with a grown daughter, Lisa, and a son, Michael. Michael and his wife Alana have provided two wonderful grandchildren, Rafe and Zara.
