CaliforniaColleges.Edu is a free account we offer to all of our CBK students. It has many awesome features students can use to explore careers, majors, trades, and community colleges, Cal State Universities, University of California, and private universities like USC and Pepperdine. It also provides 4 career interest surveys students can take to match their interests and abilities to jobs or careers that best suit them. It’s easy to sign up! Click on the Californiacolleges.edu and enter the information below to start your free account today!

Students wanting to further their education by attending a university that offers four-year Bachelor of Science (B.S.)/Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees will likely need to take a standardized college entrance exam. When applying to a U.S. college or university, you will probably be asked to provide either your SAT or ACT test scores. SAT and ACT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships.

SAT Test Dates and Registration Details

ACT Test Dates

National test dates are for the United States, US territories, and Puerto Rico. If you have missed the late registration deadline for a test date, you may be able to request standby testing.

If you are unable to test on a Saturday test date for religious reasons, there may be options available to you. See Non-Saturday Testing.

All requests for accommodations and English Learner supports, including appeals, must be submitted by the late registration deadline through the Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) system. Accommodations and English learner supports are available for standby testing.

Financial Aid applications are available to all CBK students, regardless of age, from October 1 thru March 2 to apply for the best possible financial aid award.

**Late applications are accepted thru June 30 by the state and federal government but students will not have the same chance to win the best financial aid award possible.
***California Community Colleges accept financial aid applications through September 2 but you have to contact their financial aid office to find out if they have funds available.

FAFSA

(Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

Students who are US residents or permanent residents with a social security number must create a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) to apply for financial aid. If you do not have one, you can create one here: https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm. Once you have the FSA ID, you can complete the FAFSA here: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

CADAA

(California Dream Act Application)

Students who are undocumented, have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or do not possess a social security number can complete the CADAA here: https://dream.csac.ca.gov/

STUDENT WEBGRANTS 

After students submit a FAFSA or CADAA, they need to create a student webgrants accounts here: https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/. This is important because students might have to verify their graduation date, college of attendance or foster youth status. Students can check if they qualified for state grants like: Cal Grants A, B, C; Chafee Grant; or the Middle Class Scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Students are highly encouraged to apply to various scholarships. They can start as early as 11th grade but most students start in the 12th grade. Scholarships are a great way to pay for college tuition, books, food, transportation, room and board, housing, etcetera.

The CBK Charter School is a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredited high school and all courses are based on the California State Academic Standards (Common Core State Standards). CBK requires 200 credits to graduate. The following table lists the credit requirements in each subject area.

2024-2025 Course Prospectus

CBK conducts graduation ceremonies at the end of the year for 12th-grade students who meet the graduation requirements.

Work Experience/Work Study

Students may participate in a variety of Work Experience opportunities (General, Exploratory, and Vocational) and receive supplementary support and instruction in the Work Experience online course. Students may earn up to 5 elective credits per semester, with a maximum of up to 15 elective credits. Students who work full-time or part-time can participate in the Work Experience program.

Students who are age 18 and older can participate, as long as they sign up for the work experience course.

Students who are age 17 and younger will need to complete a work permit application once they have been notified by the employer that they have been hired. The student will take the work experience course and will be supervised by the Work Experience Teacher.

There are three ways to participate in Work Experience program:

Students who are currently working full-time or part-time jobs will take the Work Experience course and earn up to 5 high school elective credits. 

Provides unpaid opportunities to observe students in a variety of work conditions to ascertain their interests and aptitudes for specific careers. Most paid or unpaid internships or volunteer opportunities are provided by neighboring Riverside County career and/or community centers.  

Provides an extension of vocational learning at school through part-time employment in career fields such as Automotive, Manufacturing, Medical, IT Support/Cybersecurity, Construction & Logistics. These opportunities (many are paid) are available through our community partners, including California Family Life Centers, YouthBuild Plus, EQUUS, Constitutional Rights Foundation, and Launch Apprenticeship Network.
