AB2534

Effective January 1, 2025, AB2534 requires districts to disclose any reported egregious misconduct involving certificated staff to ensure transparency and accountability.

Educational agencies seeking this information for current or former Riverside County Office of Education employees may submit requests to MED-CERT@rcoe.us.

SB848

Effective January 1, 2026, SB 848 adds Education Code section 44051 to require a similar process for noncertificated (classified) applicants seeking employment with a school district, county office of education, charter school, state special school or diagnostic center operated by the department, and/or a private school. 

Educational agencies seeking this information for current or former Riverside County Office of Education employees may submit requests to MED-CLASS@rcoe.us.

The Absence Management System (AMS) is an automated employee absence reporting system. AMS is available to all RCOE permanent employees and substitute employees 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Employees are to report their absence(s) in AMS and adhere to their current established practice for reporting absences to their supervisor.

The Live Scan Fingerprinting service assists districts and individual applicants in meeting fingerprint clearance requirements for school employment.

Current law requires that school districts and county offices of education obtain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint clearance for all new employees. To assist districts in meeting this requirement, the Riverside County Office of Education operates Live Scan Fingerprinting services to electronically transmit fingerprint impressions to the DOJ and FBI.

The Live Scan Fingerprinting service is available by appointment as follows:

Personnel Services staff have been working with program staff to ensure quality instruction in the classroom by sound recruitment, selection, and certification of teachers and support staff for the more than 450 classrooms operated by the Riverside County Office of Education.

Qualified teachers have been hired from throughout California and from other states. With a nationwide shortage of special education teachers, recruitment for these scarce individuals will continue throughout the school year.
