New Education Conference Center Opens to Coachella Valley Community

INDIO – A new state-of-the-art facility to serve families and community partners throughout the greater Coachella Valley will open with a community open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 2, at 11 a.m.

Less than two years from the first shovel of sand to celebrating completion, the new 33,000-square-foot Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) Indio Administration Building and Conference Center is now open at 83625 Dr. Carreon Blvd. in Indio. The new facility is adjacent to the existing RCOE Administrative Center at 47-110 Calhoun Street.

“This extraordinary new facility is an investment in the educational future of the entire region,” said Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edwin Gomez. “In addition to services for families, conferences, trainings, and student celebrations will bring together educators and community members. We look forward to working with partners across the Coachella Valley to maximize the impact of this world-class resource.”

Facility features include:

• 6,000 square feet of configurable meeting space
• Large conference space available to host up to 375 occupants with flexible breakout options
• 22 offices and open workspace for 30 staff members
• 290 parking spaces, including nearly 100 covered with solar canopies
• Warehouse and community space
• Walking trail and covered connection to existing RCOE-Indio facility

The facility was designed by DLR Group with Erickson-Hall serving as the lead construction partner.

Community members can register free of charge to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The development of the RCOE Indio Conference Center project was prompted by the popularity of the RCOE Conference Center in downtown Riverside, which has hosted nearly 5,000 events and more than 180,000 people since opening its doors in the summer of 2022.

Every year, students, teachers, and educators in the Greater Coachella Valley log thousands of miles and hours of travel to attend educational events, meetings, competitions, trainings, and conferences held at facilities more than 50 miles away in western Riverside County. With the new facility, trainings and events will be more convenient and accessible for Coachella Valley participants. In addition, the space will serve as a hub for education and engagement work in partnership with community groups from throughout the valley.
