Strategic Vision for Artificial Intelligence at RCOE

The Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) is committed to supporting schools, districts, and educators in preparing students for a rapidly changing future. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to enhance teaching, learning, and operations when implemented thoughtfully, ethically, and with student success at the center.

RCOE’s vision is to ensure that both educators and students are:

  • AI Literate – able to understand how AI works, its benefits, and its risks.

  • AI Ready – equipped to use AI responsibly, creatively, and effectively in academic and career contexts.

Through this approach, AI becomes a tool for:

  • Personalized learning that meets individual student needs.

  • Empowered educators who can integrate AI into teaching and leadership practices.

  • Ethical use and student supports that safeguard privacy, fairness, and student well-being.

  • Alignment with state and federal guidance to ensure responsible adoption.

A School District Guide to AI Implementation

The RCOE School District Guide to AI Implementation will provide curated resources for educators and administrators to support safe, practical, and effective AI use:

  • Official Guidance – Publications from the U.S. Department of Education, California Department of Education, and UNESCO.

  • Trusted Resources – Best practices and lesson ideas from organizations such as Common Sense Education.

  • Classroom Tools – Vetted applications designed to support instruction, creativity, and student engagement.

  • Privacy and Policy Alignment – Resources to ensure AI use aligns with district policy and protects student data.

RCOE is uniquely positioned to guide districts in adopting AI through:

  • Safe and Policy-Aligned Practices – Ensuring AI use complies with local, state, and federal standards.

  • Student-Focused Approaches – Applying AI to close gaps in access and opportunity.

  • Collaborative Implementation – Partnering with districts to pilot, scale, and sustain AI integration that benefits all learners.
