PBIS/MTSS Tier 2 Team Training

Supplemental (Tier 2) PBIS systems and practices are designed for groups of students who need more structure, feedback, instruction, and support than Universal (Tier 1) PBIS practices alone. This virtual training series supports teams with the systems necessary for implementing Tier 2 interventions such as Check-In, Check-Out, and Social Skills Groups mentoring. We will also focus on utilizing data for decision-making with an emphasis on screening and progress monitoring. Most importantly, we will examine teaming structures, encouraging participants to select their Tier 2 team members carefully, as the knowledge base and function of the team is different from the Tier 1 team (see Intended Audience section below). All trainings will be presented virtually.

To participate in RCOE PBIS Tier 2 Team Training, the school administrator should complete the RCOE PBIS Tier 2 Readiness Form. Please email the completed form to Denise Granger, RCOE PBIS Coordinator, at dgranger@rcoe.us.

Intended Audience

The Tier 2 team is responsible for identifying students in need of more intensive support than school-wide PBIS practices, as well as designing and monitoring those selected interventions. Often, Tier 2 teams are composed of different staff than the Tier 1 team to serve that function. Most importantly, Tier 2 teams need to have membership that includes individuals who monitor Tier 2 interventions, have applied behavioral expertise, have knowledge of students, and have knowledge of the operations of the school. Wellness Coaches and/or Community School staff could also be beneficial team members.
