Advanced Placement Readiness

The Advanced Placement Readiness (APR) program provides supplemental instruction to current and potential AP students in 9 Advanced Placement courses:

• AP Biology
• AP Calculus A/B
• AP Chemistry
• AP English Language
• AP English Literature
• AP Human Geography
• AP Physics
• AP United States History
• AP World History

The APR program also provides high level professional development for current and potential teachers of AP courses in STEM and Humanities areas. AP teachers involved in APR will participate in course-specific professional learning that includes observing and interaction with master teachers and engaging in professional networking that promotes best practices in rigorous AP instruction.

Transcript Analysis: University of California (UC)/California State University (CSU) A-G, High School Graduation, and Middle School)

Transcript analysis is a powerful diagnostic tool that helps schools and districts understand students' access to and success in courses that prepare them for college, careers, and life. By examining course grades, credits earned, and course-taking patterns, educators can identify trends, strengths, and barriers that impact student outcomes.

The Measuring Student Learning Project includes transcript analysis protocols designed for middle schools, traditional high schools, and alternative education settings. Individual student results are aggregated to provide system-level insights that help educators evaluate the effectiveness of current instructional, grading, placement, and support practices.

Transcript Analysis Areas of Focus:

Middle School for High School Readiness Analysis - measures student access and success in core academic courses and serves as an indicator of high school readiness.

High School UC/CSU A-G Analysis - measures student access and success in UC/CSU A-G approved coursework and identifies patterns that influence college and career readiness.

Alternative Education High School Graduation Analysis - measures student access and success in courses required for graduation, credit attainment, and progress toward diploma completion. 

Goals of the Analysis

• Analyze student access and success in courses of rigor and graduation pathways.
• Examine grade distributions and transcript patterns across courses, departments, programs, and student groups.
• Generate data that supports root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
• Identify barriers that prevent students from achieving readiness, completion, and post- secondary goals. 
• Inform actions that increase student access, success, and completion rates.

By examining transcripts through a systems-thinking lens, schools can move beyond individual student performance and better understand how policies, practices, and structures influence student outcomes across the entire educational system.

Master Schedule Design

Building a student-centered master schedule is vital to maximize high school and college/career readiness. The College and Career Readiness team provides training and support for middle and high school administrators and school counselors responsible for designing, building, and implementing the school’s master schedule.

National Student Clearinghouse StudentTracker Training

National Student Clearinghouse StudentTracker 3.0

Training Riverside County Office of Education has been a long-standing partner with the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and was the first county office of education in California to sponsor StudentTracker accounts for all Riverside County public high schools. 

StudentTracker 3.0 provides school districts and high schools with comprehensive postsecondary outcome data that helps educators better understand what happens to students after graduation. The system includes a suite of interactive reports that track college enrollment, persistence, transfer patterns, credential attainment, and workforce outcomes, providing valuable information for evaluating college and career readiness initiatives.

The College and Career Readiness Team provides training designed to help district and school staff read, interpret, analyze, and apply StudentTracker 3.0 reports to support continuous improvement efforts and strengthen postsecondary outcomes for students.

Training Topics Include

• Overview of StudentTracker 3.0 and available reporting tools
• Understanding postsecondary enrollment trends
• Analyzing college persistence and retention rates
• Interpreting transfer and mobility patterns
• Reviewing degree and credential completion outcomes
• Examining enrollment by institution type, sector, and geography
• Using longitudinal data to evaluate college and career readiness initiatives 
• Integrating StudentTracker data into Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), and continuous improvement efforts.

Participants will learn how to move beyond simply viewing the reports to using StudentTracker data as a strategic planning tool that informs program evaluation, resource allocation, student support systems, and college and career readiness improvement efforts.
