College Kickoff

College Kickoff in Riverside County is a countywide college-and-career-readiness campaign organized by the Riverside County Education Collaborative (RCEC) and supported by the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE). It is designed to help students—from elementary school through high school—explore college and career options and prepare for postsecondary education.

October is designated as College Kickoff Month in Riverside County. Schools across the county host activities focused on college awareness, career exploration, and postsecondary planning. The initiative supports the Riverside County Office of Education's goal of ensuring that all students graduate prepared for college and the workforce.

Activities vary by grade level and may include:

  • College and career exploration for younger students
  • CA College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) classroom lessons
  • PSAT Testing
  • College admissions and financial aid workshops
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid/California Dream Act Application support
  • Career assessments such as the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
  • College application assistance for seniors

College Kickoff's broader goal is to increase the number of Riverside County students who apply to multiple colleges and ultimately enroll in higher education.
