Community-Based Learning
Community-Based Learning is:
- Place-based learning that extends the traditional project-based learning model by focusing on teachers and students collaborating with community members, organizations, and businesses to solve real issues by creating plans and crafting products that enhance the community.
- Learning that extends from traditional project-based learning in that it fundamentally involves student voice, particularly in the examination of identity and cultural history.
- A vehicle for teacher planning and student learning that is powered by indigenous ways of knowing, community cultural wealth, funds of knowledge, visible learning, and community context.
