The California Arts Standards were adopted in January 2019. The Arts at RCOE has taken all of the standards in the five disciplines and reformatted them to make them user-friendly for teachers and Administrators.
The documents present the Arts Standards in a concise, usable format and can be used for planning and assessment activities.
In 2020, the California State Board of Education adopted the California Arts Education Framework to support implementation of the California Arts Standards.
This recorded webinar provides an engaging overview of key chapters of the Arts Framework and offers practical opportunities to explore its content and application. Originally developed as a three-hour experiential training, this two-hour recorded version is available on demand, along with accompanying handouts and resources.

To make arts instruction more accessible for elementary educators, RCOE Arts has organized the California Arts Standards specifically for multiple-subject teachers. Standards can be easily explored by grade level (PreK–6) or by art form: dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts.
These resources make it easier to plan meaningful arts learning—whether teaching an art form, enhancing instruction through the arts, integrating multiple art forms, or connecting the arts with other content areas.
