Family and Community Engagement Domain

Family and community engagement are essential to the success of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), as they help tailor educational experiences to meet the diverse needs of students. The Family Engagement Network (FEN) strengthens this work by providing research-based training and support through a systemic approach that embeds engagement into districtwide efforts. With a focus on professional development, collaboration, and customized support, FEN helps build strong, goal-oriented partnerships that reinforce the foundation of MTSS.

Key Practices:

  • Professional Development & Support: Facilitate Family Engagement Network (FEN) meetings, Leadership Labs, and tailored school trainings to strengthen district wide family engagement efforts.

  • Communication & Outreach: Share resources, success stories, and best practices through the FEN Newsletter and social media platforms.

  • Active Family Engagement: Engage families in decision-making to ensure educational experiences are relevant and responsive to student needs.

  • Districtwide Systems Approach: Prioritize engagement at the leadership level, align it with schoolwide goals, and invest in infrastructure to build sustainable partnerships that support student success beyond academics.

  • Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with community organizations and represent RCOE at state and national conferences to highlight the impact of family and community engagement.
